Fallon
I hope she understands the danger. So cavalier, so confident, but it's so much more than that, more than she can know. I hope she'll be careful.
Fallon grins, "The last two, I can manage at least. The first one, depends on who you ask. I'm here to ply my trade as a chemist, mostly." She inclines her head, catching Kaz's gaze, "Have any need for something like that?"
Kaz leans on her good leg and regards her steadily. "Not right this instant. What branch've chem we talkin', here?"
The door to the outside opens with the rattle of keys, the dark-skinned Glass Walker holding it until Rina passes through, and then letting it close behind him.
Fallon cocks a hip, drumming her fingers against her thigh. "Oh, a little of everything. I dabbled in hallucinogens and psychotropics during college, got my masters in catalytic/synthetic chemistry, worked at a pharmaceutical company for a while, and now I'm doing a little more dabbling in explosives. Tell me what you need, and I'll see if I can make it."
Rina's purposeful strides are brought up short, when she sees Kaz. A sudden, brilliant smile dawns, transforming the woman with beaten-up leather and rumpled hair into a streetwise Aphrodite.
Mouse's attention seems to perk just a tiny amount at 'explosives', but otherwise she remains lounging on the couch, looking faintly tired, and /very/ lost in her own thoughts. She's in glabro...possibly she's forgotten that she is.
Kaz mutters, "Psychotropics," with a half-irritable, half impressed tone, but says, "Yeah, not just this instant. Though it occurs to me, we got some Dancer issues..." She gets that far before she notices Rina; slowly, she starts to grin, although she tries ruthlessly to repress it, as she says, casually, "Oh. Hey. Long time no see."
Kavi's gaze passes from one to the other, though his small smile fades as he takes in Mouse's appearance. He turns finally to the stranger, looking her over with open curiosity before shifting his gaze back to Kaz, keeping his eyes lowered.
Fallon nods, "So I heard." Her eyebrows raise in interest, but then she notices the two enter. "Oh, hello. Are you both more Glass Walkers?" The kin pulls out her phone list and scans down the names.
Rina is rather too busy to answer, as she crosses the room and envelops Kaz in a fierce and incense-laden hug; she leaves poor Kavi to flounder about with the niceties.
Kaz is about to say, "Ri--" but then she gets hugged. She finally breaks into the laughter that was bubbling under the surface and hugs back, just as fiercely. "Guess you heard, huh?"
Kavi's smile returns, suddenly bright at the sight of Rina and Kaz's embrace. He turns to Fallon with a nod. "Yeah. I'm Kavi, called Ringtone. Galliard and member of Fidelity under Sphinx. That's Rina," he says, tipping his head toward her, and his grin grows a bit more, showing teeth, and the spark of it reaches his eyes. "Kin to the tribe." There seems to be more he would say, then, but he closes his lips and extends a hand toward Fallon.
Fallon takes Kavi's hand and gives him a firm shake, smiling. "Fallon Stevens, Walker kin as well." She glances over and smiles at the Garou and kin embracing. "It's always good to see friends reunited. Are you and her...an item?" The woman sucks in her lower lip as she looks back at Kavi, tipping her head towards Rina. "Not that it's any of my business of course, I'm just curious."
Rina pulls back enough to look Kaz very seriously in the eyes. "*Thank* you," she says firmly. "Jesus fuck, thank you. Anytime you need a lasagna..."
"You are," Kaz says, completely unable to keep the stupid-pleased grin off her face, "Entirely welcome. And I will remember that, next time I'm jonesin' f'Italian." She glances at Fallon, and explains, a little sheepishly, "I only just beat Vera f'Alpha last Moot. People're still congratulatin' me every time they see me. /Eventually/ things'll calm down... I hope..." She leans on her good leg. "And yeah, Kavi? He's glued to her. In all the best ways," she adds, hurriedly.
Kavi swallows, and the kin can practically feel the heat radiating off of him as he flushes at the question. Kaz's answer doesn't help, and he ducks his gaze for a moment. Looking up again, he nods, trying to keep his grin under control. All in all, it's a rather dopey look. "Where, um, where are you from?" he asks Fallon, in an attempt to shift the focus.
Fallon laughs and raises up Kavi's hand to give it a pat, "You are one lucky sonnuva gun." She releases him finally, "Oregon, originally, though I earned my Masters' in Tacoma." She spares a glance over at Kaz, "Oh, is that so! Congratulations, then! I assume that's quite a feat."
Kaz says, "Well, you know. Metis, Challengin' a Shadow Lord Ragabash." She shrugs. "Stuff happened," she says vaguely. "Anyway, I should git. Kavi, you need anything?" Part of that question, from the glance she gives him, is possibly a partial apology for the putting him on the spot.
Belatedly, Rina releases Kaz, one hand reaching up to pat her on the cheek. A chaste kiss is given to the other side of the Gnawer's face, and the Kin finally releases her to turn her attention to Fallon. "Saved us from years of S-Lord hell," she says, giving Kaz a clap on the shoulder before she steps over and offers the other woman her hand.
Kavi takes a step back when Fallon releases his hand and turns to Kaz. His gaze lowered, he shakes his head. "No, Kaz-rhya. But. When you can? If... If you can, soon? We should... We should..." He bites down on his lip, gaze darting up to Kaz's face and then back to the floor.
Fallon clucks her tongue, "Those Slords can pin you down, alright. Not a pretty sight, I wouldn't think." The kin clasps her hands in front of her, cocking her head to look up at Kavi's face, giving the shy dude a small, sympathetic smile.
Kaz smiles at Rina, before she looks back to Kavi. "Yeah. I got y'message. Stace has ideas an' all, but they oughta be refined into actual action plans, and info oughta be disseminated. So yeah. I'll poke people. I should also, of course, also just drop by and say hey, 'cause you're a friend, but y'know, whichever one comes first." She hitches her coat a bit, mutters, "Later, folks," and heads outside.
Smiling a crooked and rather charming smile, Rina holds a hand out to Fallon. There's a warmth in her eyes, perhaps lingering from her congratulations for the Gnawer, perhaps not. "Rina Vencenzo, pleased t'meet ya. Did I hear somethin' about chemistry?"
Kavi nods to Kaz and then watches her go. Once the door swings shut behind her, he turns back to the kin. He comes to stand just at Rina's shoulder, seeming somewhat more at ease.
Fallon takes Rina's hand, giving it a squeeze. "Yes, you did! I was just telling Kaz before you came in that I'm running my own chem lab out of my house in North End, as a sort of service to the Sept." She beams back at the beautiful woman, happy to see happiness in another.
Rina's smile tugs up at one corner. "Ah. We'll have to talk... you got a card?" Withdrawing her hand, she reaches into a pocket to find her own.
Fallon cocks her head in interest, "Only my old ones, and they're in a box back at my house. It's going to take me for-EVER to sort through all that on my own." She rolls her eyes, sighing a little, but holds out a hand to take Rina's card.
Kavi stays quiet at Rina's shoulder, shifting out of her way to make her search a little easier. "Did Mouse," he starts after a second, but pauses to glance over his shoulder to the elder. His brow creases as he turns back. "Did Mouse tell you what's happening? Here?"
Rina hands it to her: a small grey-flannel-fleck square, arty distressed type. Her smile fades to seriousness.
Fallon takes it and studies her card, "Oh wow, these look good! Who did them for you?" Not looking up from the card as she flips it over to look at the back, Fallon shakes her head to Kavi, "She mentioned there have been Dancer attacks, particularly by a Hive that's centered in Spokane. Nothing in particular though."
Kavi reaches for Rina's hand, tension rising in his shoulders, down the length of his arm. "Not a Hive. Not yet. Not if we..." He draws in a breath and lets it out slowly. "But they're trying. And... Just. Be careful. They've been taking people."
Rina nods, looking across to the other Kin soberly. "Keep an eye out for jarhead-looking types. Shaved heads, tats."
Fallon looks up and sees that they seem both very serious suddenly. She looks between them, her own worry creeping across her face. "Oh no...who's been taken? How?"
Kavi's hand closes around Rina's, and his eyes shut tight for a long second. "The ones we know, we got back. The others..." He shakes his head. "Just. Just be careful."
"And if you see somethin' happening, like someone gettin' pulled off the street... /don't/ get involved on your own," Rina says quietly. "They just about killed a couple of us, a while back. These guys are nasty, and even the ones who /aren't/ Dancers... aren't human anymore, either."
Mouse's deep contemplation seems to have resulted in her falling asleep. The elder's eyes are closed, chin drooping to her chest, and her breathing is quite deep and slow. Oi.
Fallon regards them both with a grateful nod, "I...thank you. I'm touched that you're both so concerned for me, a complete stranger." The woman puts her hand over her heart, smiling at them. "Though I would not worry terribly much, if I were you. I have ways of keeping myself safer than the average woman. Or at least...safe enough until I can run away." She lifts up the hem of her shirt, and a small black cylinder is tucked into her waistband there. She pulls it out and holds it up for them. It appears to have a nozzle on one side, with two buttons on the top: one blue, and one red.
Kavi's eyes follow the cylinder, though as she holds it up he glances to Rina, looking for her reaction. He bites back a response, waiting, instead, brow furrowed in confusion.
Rina raises a brow. "Is it Talen, or just tech?"
Fallon looks up at the two of them, notes Kavi's mild confusion, and she pulls the cylinder closer to her chest. "Tech, of my own design and concoction, actually. The blue button is for normal mace. The red button is for use specifically against Dancers. Though it could work well on normal Garou as well, so I try to be VERY careful with it." She glances up at them, quickly tucking it back in her waistband.
Rina nods minutely, and rubs at the back of her neck with one hand. "I *shot* one of these guys," she murmurs, a little self-consciously. "And it was *after* that, that he beat the shit out of me and ran over both legs." Her gaze returns to the other woman. "So, seriously... do *not* fuck with these guys on your own."
"Oh," Kavi says, nodding once. For a longer piece after that, he's quiet, bringing his hand to Rina's shoulder. "Please," he says to the woman. "It's not... Just, be careful. What Rina says, it's important that you understand. This isn't a time to be... To be overconfident. There are Dancers, and their kin, and other things. And they're all seeking... They're not just hunting at random. They have goals, targets. And we don't want you to be one of them."
Mouse makes a weird noise that sounds like half snore, half snort. It's not very loud, but it is noticeable.
Fallon frowns and shakes her head vigorously, "Oh /no/! I'm not going to go looking for trouble, I know I wouldn't stand a chance in a fight. This is purely to give me a chance to run and get somewhere safe. My next goal, after I get my house fixed up and secured, is to buy a car so I don't have to walk everywhere." She winces at Rina's description of the events, "Oh Gaia...I am so sorry, hun. Are you okay now?" She looks from Rina to Kavi and back, then glances over at Mouse.
Rina glances over her shoulder to Mouse. "You know, if you have somethin' to /add/..."
Kavi glances toward the couch as well, but then returns to Fallon with a nod. "Yes," he answers quietly. His hand falls from Rina's shoulder as he steps backward, turning away.
Mouse's deep breathing continues, and it goes without saying that she doesn't answer Rina.
Fallon blinks at Mouse, and looks back at Rina and Kavi. The kin clears her throat and smooths down soem wrinkles on her shirt. "Yes, well..."
Rina lifts a shoulder. "Dreaming, I guess," she murmurs, looking back to Fallon. "Nice meetin' you. Give me a ring, we'll talk. I might have some business propositions for you."
Kavi takes a few steps away, apparently at random, though his path takes him eventually to the couch. He picks up the throw from back of the couch and lays it gently over the elder's form.
Mouse twitches faintly, but doesn't wake.
Fallon smiles and her eyes brighten, "That would be fantastic. I'm always looking for more work. Here..." she reaches into a pocket on her skirt and pulls out her cell phone. Taking out Rina's business card, the kin quickly dials the number and calls Rina's phone, hanging up when it starts to ring. "There. You now have my number. I'm sorry I don't have a business card to give to you."
Rina flashes that rakish half-smile again. "No big."
Kavi remains where he is, studying the elder for a moment more before he sighs and turns back to the women. He returns to Rina's side and slips his hand into hers. "I should check. In the morning? I should come back and see." His voice is quiet, but he indicates Mouse with a tip of his head.
Fallon puts a finger to his lips, regarding the sleeping Mouse and looking worried. "Why? Is the lobby of the Tenement not safe to sleep in?"
Rina gives a little shake of her head. "Nah, it's fine... well. Okay, not really. *I* wouldn't stay here, knowin' how they're watchin' the place. But I think he meant somethin' else?" She looks to Kavi, deferring explanation to him.
Kavi nods at Rina's answer, glancing again to the sleeping elder. "It's just... She has a lot on her mind. And I... I should be here. I should make sure...." He shrugs. "She doesn't sleep down here when she's okay, when she's not... It'll be okay. I'll come in the morning." He lifts Rina's hand, letting his gaze find it and then rise to her face. His brows rise in unspoken question.
Rina nods, and gives a quick, wistful smile.
Fallon's look of worry deepens, and the volume of her voice drops, "Humm...perhaps we should leave, so we don't wake her. It was very nice to meet you both, Kavi and Rina. I hope to hear from you both again soon." Her smile lights up her face as she says this.
Rina nods, and gives a quick little not-quite-there smile. "Watch your back," she offers, and then turns to go.
"Stay safe," Kavi says to Fallon, moving with Rina, his fingers laced with hers.
